The Hypocrisy of the Florida Legislature
By Mike Adams
Florida House passes Senate Bill 6, linking teacher pay to student test scores. This is just the type of Republican hypocrisy that puts Obama’s in the White House. The Governor needs to veto this Bill. The Republican controlled Legislature owes Florida’s good teachers an apology.
Do not get me wrong here, I know the teacher’s unions love the Democrats and some of our educators are left wing wacko’s. I side with the teachers on this one. I am an adult vocational teacher. It does not matter how well I teach a subject if the student is out to lunch or lacks the basic skills to comprehend the subject, they are not going to learn it. If you base my paycheck on this impossible outcome, I guarantee you the loss of one good teacher.
Herein is the hypocrisy; Florida family law is a complete joke. Irreconcilable differences and broken families. We have a Federal tax and welfare system that promotes broken families. Why be responsible when it pays to have children out of wedlock! Then, after we have legislatively promoted this complete breakdown of the American Family, let’s blame our educational crisis on the teachers. This situation has been many years in the making; there is not a quick fix.
If we care about our children, we must have pro-family legislative revisions. We have a God given right to have children, that comes with a God given mandate to raise them properly. If you do not believe in God, mother nature has the same rights and demands. It is far too easy to jump in and out of marriage and abandon parental obligations. It is far too financially rewarding for those that deny children a family, by having them out of wedlock. Children have the God given right to have loving parents. If the system is paying for a child you brought in the world, then you need to be in the system making license plates.
I have lived this I speak of as both the child and the parent. I understand it well and recognize the adverse role of Government in the process. As a parent I’m proud to say that my child was an honor student throughout his education. That started at home. I also realize that there are loving single parents that make the best of the situation and raise good kids. We can’t blame teachers for the poor performance of children that have no guidance.
I think we need to put the Legislators on performance-based pay. Governor, please veto that bill.
